Open a map of France, then look for Brittany ; you will find Belle-Ile-En-Mer if you follow the South coast of Brittany, off the Quiberon peninsula (Morbihan).

BELLE ILE EN MER (20 km long, 10 km wide) rises 71 metres above the sea. With a very wide range of colours and contrasts, Belle-Ile-En-Mer is always on the change. The diversity of its landscapes is its charm : moors, steep cliffs, green water coves and also woods, dales, brooks, fields and long sandy beaches.

To the traveller arriving by the sea, it displays from "La Pointe des Poulains" to "Kerdonis" its sheltered coast protected from the prevailing winds, with its green dales, its coves and beaches, its hillsides covered with flowers and its small shady hamlets under the trees.

A feeling of quietness and coolness pervades from this eastern side of the island where the colourful harbour of Sauzon and the harbour of Le Palais are sheltered, Le Palais being the county town and place of arrival, which the Vauban citadel still seems to be eager to protect.

Beaten by the strong ocean winds, on the West side, the ‘‘Côte Sauvage’’ (the rugged coast) has a violent beauty which is always renewed ; rugged cliffs, rocks with strange shapes, deep caves…

By foot, by bike, by car, by plane, by boat and even in a sea-kayak, you will enjoy discovering Belle-Ile-En-Mer.
